In our mini-supermarket in the Bernlef residential care center, we help elderly people with their small grocery shopping.
It involves a small Spar store. The workload is low and the atmosphere is very pleasant. You have the time to pay attention and have a chat. Additionally, you take orders and process payments at the checkout.
For example, if you have experience working in a retail store and would like to remain active (as a volunteer) after retirement or while you are studying, this is a fun way to help others.
Tasks and duties
You are responsible for opening the store, you help the elderly in a friendly manner, and you enjoy giving some attention when needed. You enjoy performing small tasks such as pricing products, counting packing slips, and working the cash register.
Skills and qualities
- You have experience working the cash register and/or are willing to learn.
- You are sociable and enjoy helping others (the elderly).
- You are responsible enough to open and close the store.
- You are skilled with a price gun/counting products.
Additional information
It is a really nice vacancy, but it does require you to have one morning free every week.
We occasionally fill in for each other (during holidays). Therefore, it is nice if you can fill in on a Monday morning when needed. In turn, others will fill in for you during a holiday.
