Stichting Kind en Groen manages a school garden on the grounds of care farm De Mikkelhorst in Haren. From March/April onwards, four school classes visit weekly on Tuesday mornings for vegetable garden lessons and nature education. For this, we are urgently seeking an enthusiastic volunteer who loves being outdoors and wants to teach children about the vegetable garden. Are you available on Tuesday mornings from 8:20 to 13:30 between April and June? Then please get in touch!
Tasks and duties
We are looking for someone who enjoys teaching and/or assisting with the lessons. Tasks we perform include:
- Preparation of the lessons.
- Setting up materials.
- Guiding students in the school garden.
- Giving lessons in the school garden based on the curriculum.
- Managing volunteers, parent helpers, and students in the school garden.
Skills and qualities
We are looking for someone who has experience supervising groups of children.
Some knowledge of vegetable gardening is a plus, but not a must. You will work together with an experienced vegetable garden coach.
A good command of the Dutch language is desirable.
