Tasks and duties
Elderly people with a psychiatric background live at Hamrikheem. Some people have few social contacts and receive few visitors. For one of our residents, we are looking for someone who will visit especially for her. A true companion who will take her back into the outside world, because she finds that difficult on her own, and it is simply much more fun with two people!
This concerns a 75-year-old woman who feels 60! She is looking for a companion/buddy who wants to do fun things with her, because she doesn't like being alone and doesn't want to socialize with everyone in the house. She is looking for someone with life experience—which she has herself—and not someone to talk about trivial matters or nonsense. She would like to be able to talk openly and honestly about everything with someone. And she wants to get back to living a normal life after a few unpleasant years. She is working hard on herself and enjoys doing things and undertaking activities together.
If you have some time to spare and would like to be a buddy for her, you are very welcome to come and meet her. We will first have an intake interview with her and her personal support worker.
Skills and qualities
- Patience, respect, social skills, and the ability to easily make contact.
- Being able to accept that people are a little different and can sometimes be dismissive when they are having an off day or lack people skills.
- Looking at what people can do instead of what people cannot do.
- We were able to make arrangements with the lady to take action.
- Being able to be independent and really enjoying doing things alone with someone.
- Being able to listen but also respond to what is said.
- Having a driver's license would be nice, but it is not a requirement. With a driver's license, you can go on fun trips together.
Additional information
Hamrikheem is an open setting; residents can go outside independently. It is also possible, if people wish, to go into town or go shopping with someone. This way, you can also decide together with the resident what you will do that day.

Wij vinden het belangrijk dat mensen een zinvolle invulling kunnen geven aan hun dag op een manier zoals zij dat graag zouden willen. Door samen te kijken naar de mogelijkheden zorgen we dat mensen weer plezier hebben in het leven, en vrijwilligers leveren hierin een grote bijdrage.
