Interesting or nice about this vacancy

Our Reitdiep Visitor Centre serves as a gateway to the Reitdiep area and is freely accessible during opening hours. Through films, photos, exhibitions, and other means, the story of the origins and management of the centuries-old cultural landscape is told, and information is provided regarding nature developments in the area. The visitor centre is opened by Team Reitdiep: a group of enthusiastic volunteers who enjoy sharing their love for nature and landscape with our visitors.

Tasks and duties

The hosts open the visitor center and the shop, ensure the smooth running of the day, and strive to make the visitors' stay pleasant. They always work in pairs, and their primary task is to provide visitors with information about the flora, fauna, and cultural history of the area, as well as the activities taking place in and around the visitor center. Selling various items from the shop is also part of their duties, as are other common tasks such as bicycle rentals.

We expect a proactive attitude from the hosts and a commitment of two half-days per month. The work primarily takes place on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Occasionally, the visitor center is also open on Wednesdays. Naturally, as a new host, you will receive an induction period paired with an experienced host.

Skills and qualities

We are looking for people with a flexible attitude and some organizational skills to handle unexpected situations. It is beneficial if you have general knowledge of flora, fauna, or cultural history. Specialized knowledge is not required. However, enthusiasm for the area and a willingness to further develop your knowledge are essential. Proficiency with the internet and email is a requirement. And do you also possess good social skills, enthusiasm, and a willingness to work in a team? Then we would love to hear from you!
