As a decluttering coach, you support residents of the municipality of Groningen who, for various reasons, are dealing with a home that is (relatively) full of household items that the resident can no longer enjoy due to the quantity and/or the lack of practical storage spaces. Often, the resident has lost track of things.
As a volunteer, you are part of the volunteer Decluttering Coach team, which consists of an average of 25 decluttering coaches. You work independently with the resident in their home environment. As a starting Decluttering Coach, you receive more guidance from the coordinator. You also participate in peer supervision meetings and can attend free workshops and training sessions on various topics via Ontwikkellink from link050. https://www.link050.nl/ontwikkellink
Tasks and duties
Anyone with too many belongings in their home can lose track of things and feel the need to make space. But how do you go about this? A volunteer decluttering coach from WerkPro works together with the resident to clean up, sort through, and organize belongings. They continue until they are proud of their living environment again and feel "at home" once more. The support for the resident is free, no referral is required, and it is intended for motivated residents on a tight budget.
Skills and qualities
As a decluttering coach, you are:
- Social and respectful.
- A good listener.
- Flexible and creative.
- Capable of leaving the final decision-making with the client.
- Independent and reliable.
- Good at handling (potential) resistance.
- Available for longer programs (usually 6-12 months).
- Long holidays are negotiable.
Experience is a plus, but not required. If you are empathetic and dedicated, we invite you to apply and become part of the decluttering coach team!
