Frequently Asked Questions
Can I write to everyone?
In principle, you can contact anyone in the volunteer pool. However, you can only contact someone once per activity, and you cannot send out more than 5 messages per day per organization.
Conversely, a volunteer cannot have more than 5 outstanding notifications at the same time. This is to prevent potential volunteers from being approached too often and dropping out.
Furthermore, your notification must always be linked to an activity. This is to prevent volunteers from being contacted by just anyone.
What should I pay attention to when approaching volunteers in the pool?
You have the best chance of finding a volunteer if you take their wishes into account. You can see their interests and the activities they enjoy in their profile. Take a look at that and read the short text in which they introduce themselves.
Additionally, it is useful to look at what language someone uses and within what range they are searching. Furthermore, you can see if someone is a member of organizations and whether that person has participated in activities before (via this platform). These are all hints that can give an indication of how likely it is that someone is interested.
Are all users in the volunteer pool?
No, there are plenty of volunteers who have not signed up for the volunteer pool. They prefer to look for opportunities themselves or be helped by one of our staff members.
The moment a volunteer is matched via the volunteer pool, he or she is automatically removed from the pool. The goal is to have only people who are actively looking in the pool.
I'm not receiving any responses, what now?
People automatically receive reminders if they do not respond. If someone never responds to messages, that person is automatically removed. This way, the pool remains populated only with people who are genuinely looking.
Our tip is always: look at the profiles carefully and try to approach people as specifically as possible. Nobody likes being approached out of the blue. You can also try adjusting your activity (description / pictures) to make it as attractive as possible.
Moreover, people also look for a suitable activity themselves, and not only on this platform. So keep sharing your activity. Especially on social media; the perfect volunteer might not even be familiar with our platform yet!
