The activities can vary widely: meeting and connecting, developing your creativity, exercising and promoting health, or support with specific questions. There are activities in which residents participate themselves, either in groups or individually, and others where you can come and watch and listen more passively. These activities are often led by a “teacher” or “volunteer” for that particular activity.
We strive to keep access to activities low-threshold and prices affordable for everyone. Hospitality and service orientation are of paramount importance to us. Daily management is in the hands of professional paid staff and volunteers.
We are very pleased with new suggestions and initiatives from the neighborhood residents. Naturally, everything must fit within the budget made available by the Municipality.
Tasks and duties
The board of the Sonde2000 / de Tuinwijk Foundation manages two community centers: Sonde 2000 (in the Vensterschool behind “de Parrel”) and TuinPad (located in the Bessemoerparkje between Tuinwijk and Paddepoel). All kinds of activities take place in both community centers. Some are initiated by the residents, others by the board. In doing so, we try to serve the residents of Selwerd, Paddepoel, and de Tuinwijk as well as possible.
The board of St Sonde 2000 / de Tuinwijk is seeking to expand, currently adding 2-3 board members.
As a General Board Member, you can take on specific tasks, such as:
- Volunteer contact person / volunteer policy.
- Contact person for teachers / teacher policy.
- PR contact person (together with PR volunteer).
- Inventorying new activities in collaboration with residents and other centers.
- Implementing and/or maintaining ICT within the community centers.
- Contact person / representative for buildings management (e.g. within the Vensterschool).
- Contact person / representative of the community centers within the SPTK area.
Skills and qualities
- Has a vision regarding socio-cultural work and the needs of the residents.
- Determines the policy within the community centers together with the other board members.
- Possesses communication skills.
- Can work well on a board.
Additional information
We meet approximately 10 times a year to consult. In addition, certain positions require extra time.
To join the board, you do not necessarily have to come from one of the participating neighborhoods. Nor do you necessarily have to be involved in a specific activity. However, interest in and affinity with socio-cultural activities is a requirement.
We would appreciate it if new board members came from various non-traditional groups in our society.
