About De Torteltuin
The Torteltuin is a green meeting place for and by the neighborhood. The garden brings nature closer to people and introduces children to everything that grows, blooms, and lives in a playful way. In the Torteltuin, they discover how nature works, right in the middle of their own living environment.
In addition to its educational function, the Torteltuin has a strong social significance. It is a place where neighborhood residents meet, garden together, picnic at the communal tables, and organize activities. The garden encourages contact, collaboration, and involvement, thereby contributing to social cohesion in the district.
Every spring, we create a new plan together to further develop and renew the garden. This is done with the dedication of enthusiastic volunteers: the Torteltuinders. Together, they ensure that the Torteltuin remains an open, inclusive, and lively place where nature, meeting, and ownership come together.
Together with volunteers, we work in the garden: with our hands in the soil, in the vegetable garden, and on the development of a hugelbed. Everyone can contribute in their own way: by helping out, sharing ideas, or by sharing knowledge and experience with gardening.
Besides working, there is plenty of room for socializing and socializing. We regularly organize shared meals and a pleasant atmosphere. We are also looking for people who want to contribute in other ways, for example by brainstorming or helping to improve our (free) WordPress website.
Whether you have a green thumb, enjoy working together, think creatively, or simply want to be part of a committed group: you are very welcome at the Torteltuin. We are also creating an attraction in the garden: an audio tour with animal stories!!!
