Are you interested in public transport? And do you enjoy helping other people? Doe mee met het OV is looking for residents (55+) from the Groningen region who want to volunteer as public transport ambassadors.
Tasks and duties
Public transport ambassadors explain public transport to anyone for whom traveling by public transport is not self-evident. During walk-in consultations, workshops, or information meetings, public transport ambassadors answer questions about, for example, the OV-pas and OV-chipkaart, planning a trip, discounted travel, ticket machines, and checking in and out. In this way, public transport ambassadors help people find their way in public transport.

In addition to these informative activities, public transport ambassadors also organize trial trips. This allows people to experience what it is really like to travel by train or bus. Public transport ambassadors take travelers by the hand and show them where everything is located, how a ticket machine works, and how they can check in and out. Most participants are 55+ and have limited digital skills.
Skills and qualities
What can you expect from us?
- Training and support: naturally, you are not alone; as a public transport ambassador, you receive training, support, and guidance from experienced public transport ambassadors and project staff.
- Network of colleagues: we organize return days where all public transport ambassadors can share their knowledge and experiences and where you are kept up to date on recent developments.
- Flexibility: you can decide for yourself how much time you want to dedicate to the public transport ambassadorship. As a guideline, a minimum time commitment of 3 half-days per month applies.
- Reimbursement of travel expenses: Public Transport Ambassador is a volunteer position; naturally, travel and other expenses are reimbursed.
