Interesting or nice about this vacancy
The Youth Education working group organizes and supervises nature activities for children in and around the Reitdiep Visitor Centre . The working group consists of 15 to 20 volunteers who – usually in pairs – lead an activity. Examples of programs include: dissecting owl pellets, ditch excursions, and building birdhouses. And do you have ideas for new activities yourself? That's great! We will help you develop them.
Tasks and duties
We organize activities on weekends and during school holidays. We also welcome entire school classes on weekdays for an educational program at the visitor center.
After an induction period, you can indicate yourself which activities and during which parts of the day you would like to be assigned. However, during the busy period (spring/early summer), we do require a minimum availability of one half-day (approx. 3 hours) per week.
Skills and qualities
We are looking for people with a heart for nature who enjoy making children enthusiastic about nature as well. Extensive knowledge of nature is a plus, but not necessary. It is most important that you enjoy interacting with (groups of) children.
