Tasks and duties
De Wasplaats is a day activity center for people (participants) with mental health vulnerabilities. Participants contribute within their own capabilities and have a meaningful day at the center. The laundry is collected, washed, dried, ironed if necessary, and returned.
De Wasplaats provides laundry services for various shelters for the homeless in the city of Groningen. It offers all homeless people in the city of Groningen the opportunity to have their clothes washed and to take a shower.
In addition, De Wasplaats does laundry for various other clients, such as sports clubs and the municipal cleaning service.
As a volunteer:
- Do you help with washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes and bedding and
- If you can, do minor repairs, possibly on the sewing machine.
Skills and qualities
You enjoy doing laundry, you are organized and neat, and you can keep an overview. You are a social person and enjoy interacting with people.
Additional information
You do not need any training as a volunteer. If you are sociable, enthusiastic, and willing to roll up your sleeves, you are most welcome!

WerkPro’s objective is: “Anyone who is unemployed but wants to move forward can turn to WerkPro for work experience, participation, or daytime activities. The guidance is aimed at individual development and improving their position in the labor market.” The visitors to the Twelfth House are people with severe addiction issues and many other problems. They are often unable to overcome these on their own. Their world is often small, and their behavior is not always appropriate.
