Are you someone who enjoys being in nature and marveling at all living things? Do you like thinking about how to convey this sense of wonder to children and adults? The Hortus Botanicus Haren is looking for an Education Officer to further develop an educational program together with the Education Coordinator. This program will be run by volunteers, and we are looking for someone who will also participate in guiding educational activities aimed at experiential knowledge transfer.
Tasks and duties
Together with the Education Coordinator:
- Develop an education program
- Develop, organize, and execute your public activities
- Schedule your school classes and guide them during their visit.
- Supervise assignments for pupils and students
- Recruit and supervise your volunteers
In addition:
- Do you work with a team of volunteers on lessons for primary and secondary school students?
- Build collaborations with green organizations and educational institutions
- Seek external funds for activities where necessary
Skills and qualities
You don't have to be a botanical expert; enthusiasm and commitment are the most important things.
Knowledge of plants and animals in conjunction
Enjoying working with children and young people
Encourages children to look for themselves, ask questions, and discover
To be a sparring partner for the Education Coordinator
