Interesting or nice about this vacancy

You will become part of the Ixta Noa team. This is an organization that uses expertise gained through lived experience to support people with a need for (mental) assistance. For this specific vacancy, we are looking for people who want to commit to Ixta Noa and, from there, participate in a buddy project in the Lewenborg neighborhood.

Tasks and duties

Volunteer Buddy: Will you help someone cross the threshold?

Location: Lewenborg

Project: Buddy Project (collaboration between Ixta Noa, WIJ Groningen and AtHomeFirst)

Duration: Short courses of +/- 5 appointments

What are you going to do?

Many residents in Lewenborg would like to participate in neighborhood activities but find it daunting due to mental vulnerability. Think of barriers such as anxiety or sensory sensitivity. As a buddy, you are the bridge to the outside world.

In a short process of approximately 5 appointments, you help a neighbor take steps forward again.

For example, you are going to:

Investigate together what prevents someone from attending an activity or facility.

Accompanying you as a 'helping hand' to a first visit to an activity or community facility.

Using your own experience to support the resident from a place of equality and understanding.

What do we offer you?

You are not alone! We ensure you set off well-prepared. You will receive from us:

Guidance: Support and a dedicated point of contact (from Ixta Noa).

Network: Introduction to various residents and (neighborhood) facilities.

Impact: The chance to truly make a difference for someone who is currently on the sidelines.

Skills and qualities

Who are we looking for?

  • You are someone who knows what it is like to deal with mental vulnerability. We are specifically looking for volunteers with lived experience.
  • Are you open to contact and a good listener?
  • Are you down-to-earth, empathetic, and do you enjoy working from a position of equality?
  • Do you preferably live in Groningen?

Additional information

Enthusiastic?

Do you want to turn your experience into something positive for someone else? Then we would love to get in touch with you!

Interested? Send a short message or your details to Marjolein at Ixta Noa. We will then schedule an introductory meeting soon to see if this is a good fit for you.

Please note: To become a volunteer, we ask you to first complete the volunteer training program at Ixta Noa. This consists of shadowing at the drop-in sessions and attending training sessions.

Additionally, it is always possible to do more things within Ixta Noa, based on your wishes, qualities, and goals.

Such as: spending half-days at the drop-in center as a drop-in volunteer, leading a group, or developing something meaningful that can help people with their recovery.

Send an email to marjolein@ixtanoa.nl
