About JongRES Groningen

Jong RES Groningen is committed to ensuring the voice of the future is heard in the Groningen Regional Energy Strategy (RES). This strategy determines how the energy transition will be implemented in every municipality in Groningen up to and including 2030. How will our homes be heated, where will energy be generated, and how will this happen?

Young people and young workers have an interest in future-proof RESs; after all, it concerns their living environment and their energy supply. Moreover, the vast majority of the energy transition will take place during their working lives. Important choices regarding this are being made now, so young people and young workers must be able to have their say now.

JongRES Groningen is committed to involving young people in the (regional) energy transition. We believe that energy policy, intended for the future, must actually allow future generations to contribute their ideas.

Through various stakeholder roundtables, presentations, events, and our network, we strengthen the position of young people in this discussion and aim to enthuse more young people about the (regional) energy transition. The activities of JongRES Groningen currently consist of 3 pillars: 1. Representing the voice of young people in regional energy policy 2. Translating regional energy policy for young people to truly involve them 3. Enthusing young people to become active in the (regional) energy transition
