The Art-Loving Society Pictura in Groningen was founded in 1832 with the aim of 'encouraging and promoting the visual arts and applied arts in the broadest sense of the word.' Through private contributions, admission fees, sales, and donations, Pictura is committed to promoting art in and from the North on a non-profit basis in a unique setting.
Pictura is housed in a distinctive and monumental building on the Martinikerkhof in Groningen. Professional artists of diverse directions and disciplines exhibit in the atmospheric halls, and the majority has been figurative to date. And that is about to change. The offerings range from solo exhibitions to themed exhibitions. In the future, Pictura will also focus on acoustic concerts, small theater presentations, book presentations, and lectures and presentations. Furthermore, we will be operating our beautifully situated terrace on the Martinikerkhof.
Pictura is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00
