About Landelijke Inspectiedienst Dierenbescherming
The National Animal Protection Inspection Service (LID) is an independently operating foundation with the aim of protecting animals. The health and welfare of the individual animal are central to this. The LID supervises and takes enforcement action against welfare disturbances of domestic and hobby animals on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV). LID inspectors are both Special Enforcement Officers (BOA) and designated supervisors.
Volunteer Field Staff (MBD) can support district inspectors (DIs) by conducting a preliminary investigation or follow-up check, or by assisting during an inspection. In addition, an MBD may go to the scene at the request of the LID following a report of minor animal welfare disturbances.
