About Musica Antiqua Nova
In 1987, a number of classical music enthusiasts went to a notary to establish a foundation that would focus specifically on having early music performed in authentic, historically informed performances. And so, the foundation established at that time, ‘Stichting Podium voor oude en nieuwe kamermuziek’ (Foundation Platform for Old and New Chamber Music), with the working name Musica Antiqua Nova, has now existed for nearly 35 years. Since then, more than 300 concerts have been given, the vast majority in the city, but also a small number in the province. Artists who have since become well-known and sometimes even famous started their careers, as it were, at MAN and still enjoy coming there. The ambition of the city and region is to focus strongly on art and culture. By organizing early music concerts, Musica Antiqua Nova aims to contribute to increasing the cultural reach of the city.
