Interesting or nice about this vacancy
For 12 years, the Odensehuis Groningen has been the meeting place for everyone dealing with memory problems or dementia. It is a place where everyone is allowed to be who they are, and where there is room to participate based on one's own abilities. And not only for the person with memory problems, but for everyone who is part of their network. Daily life is the guiding principle, and the needs of the visitors are the starting point. The Odensehuis is not a care institution and distinguishes itself from them in a number of ways. For instance, no referral is required for the Odensehuis, and no care file is created or treatment plan drawn up. The Odensehuis originated from a citizens' initiative. In 12 years, it has developed into a facility that has become indispensable in the municipality of Groningen. It has moved beyond the pioneering phase. The municipality of Groningen has supported the initiative (financially) from the very beginning. Partly as a result of this, the Odensehuis now has 3 locations in the city of Groningen (on Molukkenstraat, in the SinnigeStee on Donderslaan, and the Amkemakoepl in Beijum), each with a professional and paid coordinator. These coordinators are supported by volunteers. In addition, the Odensehuis is a recognized training company: many students make a valuable contribution during their internships. See also www.odensehuisgroningen.nl. The coordinators of the 3 locations are supported by a single (volunteer) board, which bears the ultimate responsibility. Due to the departure of one of the board members, we are looking for someone to join our board.
Tasks and duties
The board consists of 6–7 enthusiastic members who feel strongly connected to the target group and the unique character of the Odensehuis. The board meets 8 to 10 times a year. Discussing substantive themes is also part of these meetings. The board also participates in the semi-annual consultations with the municipality.
Responsibilities:
Developing and monitoring mission, vision, and core values. Multi-year plan. Finances, budget and annual financial report, accountability.
Skills and qualities
Managerial experience. Supporting and 'managing' the coordinator. Strong network, including the municipal council, civil servants, municipal policy officers, and educational institutions. Knowledge of the field. Ability to think outside the box/system frameworks. Odensehuis is an innovative concept and requires innovative administrators.
Additional information
Time investment: approximately 4 hours per month
For questions and further explanation, please contact the Chairman of the Board, Mr. R. Schoenmaker ( roelf.schoenmaker@kpnplanet.nl ). If you send him an email, he will contact you.
