Therefore, anyone interested will be placed on a waiting list.)* You will be supporting a somewhat vulnerable group (seniors and those in need of care – but this is not transport for the disabled) and helping them enormously by transporting them over precisely those short distances that regular taxis do not cover.
In addition, you gain knowledge and experience, acquire new skills, and expand your network.

This is a volunteer position.
Neighborhood Taxi Selwerd & Paddepoel is a project stemming from the Selwerd Neighborhood Company, in collaboration with the Municipality of Groningen.
De Buurttaxi is committed to providing accessible transportation for seniors and people in need of assistance in the Selwerd and Paddepoel neighborhoods. With this, we hope to encourage people who are currently somewhat limited in mobility to get out more often and maintain their social contacts. This is important for this target group (self-reliance) and is sometimes difficult via public transport.
The neighborhood taxi is intended for trips of sometimes a few hundred meters up to approximately two kilometers. The electric taxi has room for a maximum of 2 passengers, and a folded walker can also be taken along.
Skills and qualities
- You are reliable, patient, and have pleasant social skills.
- You get along well with older people.
- You are able to lift rollators in and out of the taxi and sometimes help with (heavy) bags.
- You can empathize to some extent with the limitations and possibilities of older people.
- You are flexible regarding working hours; naturally, this is always in consultation.
- The basic principle is that it remains fun for everyone, both customer and volunteer.
- Experience working as a driver is a plus, but not a requirement.
- You are available for at least 4–8 hours per week.
- You speak good Dutch and hold a B driving license.
