Would you like to help status holders in Groningen learn the Dutch language? Then I would love to get in touch with you!

Interesting or nice about this vacancy

In this volunteer work, no day is the same. Every day, you see the students gain more self-confidence because you help them with your knowledge and attention. You are part of a team of teachers and volunteers, and you all have the same goal in mind: helping the students get off to the best of their ability in the Netherlands by teaching them the Dutch language and customs.

Tasks and duties

As a volunteer at Stavoor, you help status holders find their way in the Netherlands. You help them learn the Dutch language. The volunteer works together with the teacher. The teacher distributes the tasks, and the volunteer works with a small group of students on reading, writing, or a speaking assignment.

You don't learn a language just from a book; at Stavoor, extracurricular activities are also part of the education.

Skills and qualities

  • Being open to other cultures.
  • Empathy.
  • Sense of humor.
  • Being social.
  • Patient.
  • It is great if you have an educational background, but if you don't but do have a heart for the target group, you will still go a long way. We won't throw you in the deep end, the teachers will always help you, and you are never alone in front of a group.

Additional information

We work at various locations in the city of Groningen, but our location on Laan van de Vrede is the largest.

Feel free to contact me if you would like additional information; I would be happy to tell you more.

Even if you have completed a civic integration process yourself, you are very welcome. You are an expert by experience and often an example for our participants! As long as you speak Dutch with the participants ;-)
