In practice, it turns out to be a very rewarding volunteer job. It just makes everyone happy; it is that simple.
We always describe it as: we give the passengers back the feeling of "the wind in your hair".
People's stories often come out when, for example, they drive through the neighborhood where they used to live.
Tasks and duties
Our foundation is looking for:
- Drivers of the rickshaw, a "cargo bike", electrically assisted with 2 seats in the front.
- Board members of the Foundation that was recently established.
The first task is very practical and requires some dexterity and strength, and you must enjoy interacting with the target group, usually the elderly.
The second task focuses on support in the form of contributing ideas, particularly regarding the further development of Fietsen Alle Jaren in the city.
Skills and qualities
You must enjoy working with the elderly. You will receive a few instruction lessons on how to operate the rickshaw. The target group is vulnerable, and you must take that into account as well. If you love cycling, being outdoors, and providing a pleasant ride through the city (and a bit of the surrounding countryside), then it is a fun outing for both passenger and driver!
Regarding board work for the Foundation, we are looking for candidates who, for example, have a network in the care and social welfare sector. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who can contribute ideas regarding the further development of FAJ in the city and collaboration with other local initiatives.
