Are you up for inspiring conversations, special encounters, and good energy? And wouldn't mind getting stronger calves? Then sign up as a group leader at Walking & Talking Groningen! Every Tuesday evening from June 2nd until the end of October, we walk for an hour with several volunteers and language learners. In this way, the language learners practice their speaking skills in a relaxed manner.
The Walking & Talking Foundation helps newcomers and other non-native speakers practice the Dutch language. Not in a classroom, but while walking, in an equal and relaxed way. Curious? See our website.
Tasks and duties
For our language walk on Tuesday evening, we are looking for enthusiastic group leaders who want to contribute to a warm welcome for our participants as well as ensure the walk runs smoothly.
As a volunteer, you are never alone; there are always several volunteers walking with you.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- You lead a small group of participants (language learners and language volunteers) and ensure a pleasant atmosphere during the walk.
- You welcome new participants and put them at ease.
- You stimulate conversations and encourage everyone to join in.
- You keep an eye on the time and ensure a fun conclusion.
WHEN AND WHERE?
- Tuesday evening, start 19:30 (doors open from 19:15), end 20:45.
- Starting point: Outside at Humanitas, Akerkhof 22 zz.
- Walking distance: 4-5 kilometers.
HOW OFTEN?
As a volunteer, you walk along at least once every two weeks.
(Apart from your holidays and any illness.)
Skills and qualities
We appreciate it if you are curious about others and a good listener. A little flexibility is nice.

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?
- Very inspiring conversations, special encounters, and good energy.
- You also take 5,000 - 7,000 steps during the walk.
- You will also receive training and guidance from the organization and work in a diverse and enthusiastic volunteer team. We also have extras such as a Christmas activity and an annual get-together.
