Community Centre Floreshuis is “the house of the neighbourhood” located in the Korrewegwijk/Indische buurt in Groningen. It is a place where everyone is welcome, people can be themselves, and they can meet one another. We want to be meaningful to anyone with an initiative, an idea, or the desire to make the neighbourhood more beautiful. Above all, we want to offer an alternative 'home' to everyone in the neighbourhood.
As a volunteer organization, Het Floreshuis does not organize activities itself, but encourages, facilitates, and supports neighborhood residents who come up with initiatives and ideas. We work with as few paid staff as possible and with as many volunteers from the neighborhood as possible. Because when people from the neighborhood participate, it contributes to increasing a sense of purpose and self-worth. The Floreshuis stands for:

Tasks and duties
Due to the upcoming departure of a board member, we are looking for a new board member. If you would enjoy fulfilling a social role, then this is for you. The board operates remotely. This means that the board meets in principle once a month, and the day-to-day running of the Floreshuis is handled by the location manager and the staff. The board currently consists of 7 people. The topics discussed at board meetings include: personnel matters, finances, cooperation with the municipality and other parties, and building maintenance.
The board meeting is held every second Thursday of the month. It starts at 6:00 PM with a meal together. The commitment is approximately 4 hours per month. Occasionally, board members are asked to attend other meetings or to offer their thoughts on matters outside of the meeting – always in consultation.
The board consists of a group of people with a heart for the neighborhood and the people who live there. We all contribute in our own way and are proud to be part of the finest community center in Groningen.
Skills and qualities
The candidates we are looking for do not need to have experience as a board member. However, if you do, we are certainly interested and would like to have a conversation with you. Experience in the legal field is very welcome. But above all, we are looking for people who want to commit to the board.
