For the Medicine program at the University of Groningen, we are looking for relatives of someone with (an increased risk of) mental health problems.
Would you like to contribute to the education of future doctors?
For the Medicine program at the University of Groningen, we are looking for loved ones (family member, partner, or friend) of someone with (an increased risk of) mental health problems who are willing to share their experiences regarding communication with various target groups/institutions in the form of advice with third-year medical students.
What is it about?
Medical students learn not only from books, but also by engaging in conversation with people in the field. Through your participation, you help students strengthen their skills in the areas of communication, empathy, and understanding of the context of patients and their environment.
What do we ask of you?
• Based on your experience, you provide advice on a student report regarding communication between relatives of people with (an increased risk of) mental health problems and a fictional target group of healthcare professionals.
• Within a group of 10-12 students
• Openness in a respectful and safe setting
• Participation in a maximum of 4 student working groups (approx. 4 hours total)
• We are also looking for people who speak English
• Available from January 2027
• Residing in the city of Groningen or willing to travel there
Practical information
• After registration, a short intake interview will follow. We will discuss your motivation, your capacity to work, and what you can expect.
• You will receive clear information and guidance in advance
• Participation is voluntary. There is no compensation.
Why participate? Your contribution makes a real difference. You help future doctors collaborate better with patients and their loved ones early in their training – an essential part of good care.
