Interesting or nice about this vacancy
- We offer a dynamic and creative work environment.
- You will receive good training in metalworking and woodworking.
- Working within a fun team of colleagues.
- A workplace in the heart of the city.
- Working at an independent organization with more than 35 years of history.
- Very diverse tasks and opportunities to develop yourself.
- Work that gives you a lot of satisfaction.
Tasks and duties
As a manager at the City Workshop, you have a number of duties and tasks. Because we are an open workshop and not all of our customers are equally skilled, it is important that you keep an eye on things and, where necessary, guide customers. To do this, it is necessary that you yourself can work safely with our machines. We offer you thorough internal training for this.
We also rent out cargo bikes. Reservations must be made for this, the use of a cargo bike must be explained to customers, and occasionally a flat tire needs to be repaired.
Furthermore, you have light administrative tasks and ensure that the workshop remains neat, tidy, and clean.
You preferably work 2 days a week (from 08:30 to 17:00). Because we are also open on Saturdays, you work one Saturday on a rotating basis. This amounts to one Saturday every 5 to 6 weeks. You work with various colleagues, so it is important that you can effectively transfer work and information.
Skills and qualities
You do not need to be a skilled furniture maker or metalworker to become a volunteer with us. However, you must have an affinity for or interest in woodworking and/or metalworking. Because you will receive in-house training with us, we assume that we will enter into a long-term relationship of at least one year.
Furthermore, it is important that you can work independently, are neat and orderly, and have a customer-friendly attitude. You can also work together in a team.
Technical skills are, of course, welcome; for instance, we are still looking for volunteers familiar with welding (TIG/MIG/MAG/Electrode) and volunteers familiar with metal turning and machining. In the wood department, we are looking for experienced woodworkers who can handle our machines and (electric) hand tools.
Additional information
- A participation job is a possibility.
- This is a vacancy on a voluntary basis, but we do operate on the principle of 'a deal is a deal'.
- We need to be able to count on you. Should you receive benefits and find a job, that naturally takes priority.
- After the induction period, you will work one Saturday on a rotating basis, which amounts to one Saturday every 4 or 5 weeks, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- We are also open during the holidays.
