De Watervrienden Groningen considers it most important that the swimmers (and of course our instructors) enjoy swimming!
In addition to swimming, we regularly organize activities for all our members and officials. For example, members go away for a weekend every year, we organize day trips, and we also turn our General Meeting into a pleasant New Year's reception.
Do you find it fun and challenging to make children swim-safe? Then you’ve come to the right place at Watervrienden Groningen. We offer you a fun volunteer job, along with all the opportunities for swimming instruction, which we arrange (and pay for)! As an instructor, you can also swim with us at a discount in the recreational or fitness group.
Tasks and duties
Groningen's friendliest swimming club is still looking for a few enthusiastic swimming instructors for various target groups. We provide swimming lessons to children from age 4 who are just starting out, but there are also adults who simply want to enjoy swimming laps. We are primarily looking for instructors who enjoy teaching beginners and children working towards their swimming ABCs. Our swimming lessons for these groups take place on Thursdays between 18:00 and 19:00 and on Fridays from 18:45 to 19:45.
In addition, there is a half-hour fitness swim on Mondays and Thursdays. There is also recreational swimming for adults on Thursdays, and our synchronized swimming team swims on Fridays.
Skills and qualities
We are looking for swimming instructors qualified to teach, preferably with a First Aid certificate. However, if you do not have this yet, you can still apply! We also offer the opportunity to obtain this qualification and are always open to discussing it. Furthermore, it is important that you enjoy working with children and are not afraid to clearly remind them of the rules.
