About Wijkoverleg Vinkhuizen

Wijkoverleg Vinkhuizen (WOV) is the residents' organization of Vinkhuizen. It represents the interests of all residents of Vinkhuizen to the municipality, water board, and other authorities. Additionally, WOV organizes and supports activities in the neighborhood. An important task is keeping the people of Vinkhuizen informed about current affairs. This is done via the website and the page 'Op ’t Vinkentouw' in the Westerkrant. The Municipality of Groningen considers residents' organizations important. WOV is the official dialogue partner of the municipality. The municipality supports WOV with a structural subsidy intended for communication and activation.

WOV has a board that meets regularly. In those meetings, matters affecting our neighborhood are discussed. These include plans from the municipality as well as issues within the neighborhood. These are less pleasant topics: litter and student nuisance, but also fun initiatives: neighborhood parties and projects. An important task of WOV is distributing the subsidy our neighborhood receives from the municipality: this is intended for communication, but also for activation. In addition to meetings, WOV attends public consultation evenings, participates in the District Council, holds discussions with relevant officials, writes to government authorities, and submits views on plans where necessary.
