Interesting or nice about this vacancy

At ZINN, it is all about aging as comfortably as possible. Volunteers are an indispensable addition to this. Starting from just a few hours a week, you can bring a ray of hope to the residents.

At ZINN, we focus on the development and growth of volunteers. ZINN offers various expense reimbursements and ensures that you are insured. We treat you to an end-of-year gift, offer enjoyable and informative gatherings, and the opportunity to take training through ZINN free of charge. ZINN offers an annual Wheelchair Bus Transport course. You will receive a volunteer allowance for this position.

Tasks and duties

For several residential care locations in Groningen (Selwerd), Haren, and Hoogezand, we are seeking enthusiastic drivers and escorts for wheelchair transport to the Community Rooms. Visitors who require structure due to age, illness, or disability find a warm place in the Community Room. Dedicated staff and volunteers ensure a pleasant, meaningful day in a home-like atmosphere. The transport of visitors to and from the Community Room is provided by a group of committed volunteer drivers and co-drivers.

In this role, you ensure that visitors are transported safely and comfortably to and from the Community Room. You are more than a driver: you are a familiar face and an important part of their day. As a driver or co-driver, you are responsible for picking up and dropping off visitors to and from the Community Room. Together with another volunteer, you work a fixed route and fixed times: a morning run between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM and an afternoon run between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM.

Skills and qualities

What do we ask?

  • You are people-oriented and social: You have an eye for the needs of the older target group and are able to connect.
  • Affinity with the target group: Preferably, you have experience with or knowledge of the elderly, for example people with dementia or somatic conditions.
  • Commitment: You are willing to dedicate yourself to others and enjoy working together in a team of volunteers and professionals.
  • Patience and respect: You respect the wishes and boundaries of the visitors and offer them the care and attention they deserve.
  • Availability: You are available for at least 1 day per week at the times above.
