Interesting or nice about this vacancy
Do you want to contribute to an inclusive society where everyone can participate? Including people with disabilities, chronic conditions, or the elderly? And do you want to take the lead in this within a volunteer organization that believes in 'by, for, and through,' that is run by people who belong to the target group themselves or want to dedicate themselves to it? And where everyone's talent counts?
Then read on quickly! With us you get:
- a meaningful role within a committed team of volunteers;
- an extensive onboarding period with support where needed;
- a volunteer and travel allowance, a volunteer contract and liability insurance;
- room to further develop your managerial and personal skills;
- a central role in which you provide direction, inspire, and play a connecting role;
- room for personal input and vision.
- Societal impact: you make a valuable contribution to the Province of Groningen.
Tasks and duties
As a General Board Member, you are part of the Executive Board of zaVie. You contribute to policy discussions, provide substantive input to ongoing themes and projects, and foster effective collaboration within the Board and with our partners.
Depending on your interests and available time, you can participate in one or more project groups, attend external meetings, or be involved in specific themes. There is also room to contribute your own ideas and help shape the direction of the foundation.
Skills and qualities
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic director who:
- has an affinity with our objectives and target groups;
- is socially engaged and interested in themes such as care, housing, accessibility, and participation in Groningen;
- can collaborate and communicate well;
- is reliable, collegial and careful;
- is available for 10-12 board meetings per year (during the day) and an average of 0.5 to 1 half-day per week to contribute to the work of zaVie (from home or our office in Groningen).
Managerial experience is welcome, but not required.

zaVie is committed to good care, attention, and support for residents of the province of Groningen. We advocate for the interests of people with physical, psychological, or intellectual disabilities, the chronically ill, the elderly, and their informal caregivers. Together, we strive for a better position and quality of life for these groups, with an eye to their own strengths and capabilities.
We address various topics, such as stigma, accessibility, housing, and care. We organize meetings, listen to experiences, identify bottlenecks, and initiate projects to find solutions. Additionally, we provide a space for peer support.
We are happy to collaborate on all of this. For example, with municipalities, healthcare institutions, and other advocacy groups such as Zorgbelang Groningen and Platform Hattinga Verschure.
