Interesting or nice about this vacancy
It is satisfying to share your experience and knowledge with others so that they can benefit from it.
You get to know other people with autism well and also learn a lot yourself about what autism concretely entails.
You contribute to better knowledge about autism in adults, from the perspective of people with autism themselves.
You will become part of a team of more than 45 autistic adults. This way, you will get to know new people with autism. Our working methods are tailored to autistic characteristics.
You will be clearly told what is expected of you. We work with written job descriptions and guidelines.
You can do this volunteer work from home, from anywhere in the Netherlands or Belgium. All contact takes place via email, WhatsApp, and Microsoft Teams.
Tasks and duties
We organize a webinar about autism in adults approximately twice a month. We are looking for volunteers with autism who would like to host a webinar.
Every year from September to July, Autisme Digitaal organizes a webinar one to two times a month. In such a webinar, a volunteer shares their personal experience of having autism, possibly supplemented with other knowledge about autism. To cover the costs, we ask for a small fee (free for those on a low income). A working group of 6 to 10 people organizes the webinars.
What are the tasks?
We are looking for volunteers who want to develop and host a webinar themselves. The topic must, of course, be related to autism, but within that, it can cover any subject you have experience with. You develop the webinar yourself, but the rest of the working group provides input and support. In the webinar, you share your own experience with autism, possibly supplemented with knowledge you have about the subject. You will host the webinar internally the first time, after which you will receive feedback. Once the webinar is ready for publication, it will be scheduled twice a year in consultation with you, until you stop or there are fewer registrations for the webinar.
You can also work as a co-host. As a co-host, you act as the host and announce the presenter. Additionally, you monitor the chat during a webinar. You gather the questions, determine which question is best answered in which round, and put them to the presenter. You respond directly in the chat to questions you can answer yourself.
You develop and present a webinar about autism in adults.
You attend the working group meeting once a month, which lasts one hour and takes place via Teams on a weekday evening.
You show interest in the webinars of other working group members and regularly join when they give a webinar.
Several times a year, you attend a pilot presentation of a new webinar and provide feedback on it.
You contribute ideas for new webinars being developed by other members of the working group.
You respond to group messages from the coordinator via email or WhatsApp within three days.
Skills and qualities
- It is important that you can speak well and convey something to others.
- You have a properly working computer, webcam, and microphone.
- You are reliable: if you say you'll be there, you will be.
Volunteering at Autisme Digitaal
We are looking for new people to strengthen our team with their unique competencies and skills. We want to create an environment where all talents can develop to their full potential, regardless of gender, age, cultural background, nationality, or disability. The work is not without obligation, but we place as little pressure as possible on it. You can always turn to the rest of the team if you are ever unsure about something.
Because we are an organization for and by autistic adults, we do not accept volunteers who are under 18 or who are not autistic themselves. This allows us to safeguard volunteer work experience placements for autistic adults and ensures that our activities remain based on our own experience of having autism as an adult.
Additional information
Are you interested? Then please contact Annelies at annelies@autismedigitaal.nl . She will contact you within 3 days (excluding holidays). She will then schedule an appointment with you for a meeting via Teams. You will have a meeting with Annelies and the coordinator of the relevant working group.
