The Beestenborg petting zoo in Ulgersmaborg has existed for almost 35 years. It is a green space where children and young people can get acquainted with various animals. Additionally, it is a wonderful meeting place for young and old to get to know each other and the world of animals. Since 2014, Beestenborg has featured a large playground with a terrace; this playground holds the NSGK quality mark—in short, a unique place for everyone!
Tasks and duties
As an employee at De Beestenborg petting zoo, you are jointly responsible for the day-to-day operations in and around the petting zoo. Naturally, you do not do this alone, but work together with other volunteers. The tasks mainly involve caring for the animals, cleaning the stables, and maintaining the grounds.
- For weekend shifts, we expect you to be available for at least one half-day (of 4 hours) every four weeks.
- For weekday shifts, we expect you to be available for 1 to 2 half-days (of 4 hours) per week, plus 1 half-day every four weeks on the weekend.
Skills and qualities
- Practical and resourceful.
- Social.
- Experience caring for animals, or willingness to learn with an experienced caregiver.
Additional information
We offer a safe environment for children to play and interact with animals. Since August 2015, De Beestenborg has been working closely with Zorgboerderij de Golden Raand, and their clients also work at De Beestenborg during the week.
