Tasks and duties

Gea's giveaway shop has grown from a Facebook page into a physical store on Metaallaan, now attracting around 200 unique visitors per week. Customers are allowed to take home 10 items every week. Toys, DVDs, books, home accessories, shoes, clothing, underwear—you name it, and it's in the store. Everything in the shop is free. The shop is run by a friendly group of volunteers where everyone is welcomed with open arms.

The shop's opening hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. On the first Saturday of every month, the shop is open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Volunteers arrive one hour before opening time. During this time, there is some chatting, the shop is restocked, and tasks are assigned. The various tasks are:

• Welcoming visitors.
• Sort and clean drop-offs.
• Keep the shop tidy.
• Speaking to customers.
• Cashier duties.

• Be socially skilled and customer-friendly.
• Ability to work with other volunteers.
• Being able to be decisive and clear with visitors.
• To be presentable.
• Being able to comply with rules.

Gea's giveaway shop was founded by Gea Topelen-Wilkens. The giveaway shop is intended for everyone. She particularly aims to serve those on low incomes.
