You help someone out of their isolation by visiting for an hour a week.
Tasks and duties
A man in his late 50s is trying to rebuild his social life after a difficult period. The number of contacts he has had has become limited. What he expects from a buddy: simply chatting with someone for an hour a week about hobbies, daily world events, and/or other everyday matters. A kind of foundation he can count on, the certainty of a weekly chat. Initially from his home, then perhaps an occasional outing, e.g., a walk, a museum visit, or other small positive steps. His hobbies (painting and poetry), his passion for art movements (Expressionism, Impressionism, Hendrik Werkman/De Ploeg, the Groninger Museum), but also world news. Preferably someone who is quiet and attentive. Do you see similarities, and would you enjoy meeting with this man weekly?
Skills and qualities
- You are empathetic and calm/patient. You feel comfortable giving your attention for an hour.
- You can build a bond and give someone some confidence.
- You also like to chat about hobbies, world events, or art.
