Tasks and duties
After a divorce, every child has the right to contact with both parents. This is important for the balanced development and well-being of the child. Divorced parents are legally obliged to draw up a parenting plan. Part of this is establishing a visitation arrangement.
In practice, however, drafting or adhering to such a visitation arrangement is not always easy. In such situations, Humanitas volunteers can be of assistance. BOR Humanitas focuses on supporting divorced parents in establishing a visitation arrangement. The best interests of the child are paramount. Collaboration with both parents takes place on an equal footing. The support generally lasts 6 months.
- Meeting parents and child and making agreements regarding contact.
- Inform parents about the rules of conduct regarding contact.
- To play a role in the transfer of the child from one parent to the other.
- Be present during the interaction and ensure a positive, relaxed, and pleasant atmosphere in which parent and child feel free.
- Evaluate the progress of contact with both parents and, where possible, expand the arrangements, working towards self-reliance.
