Tasks and duties
Some children from the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe are unable to go on holiday for medical, financial, or social reasons. Humanitas organizes holiday weeks during the summer holidays especially for these children.
A team of operational volunteers offers the children a wonderful holiday week. These volunteers supervise the children and organize the program with many fun activities, relaxation, and enjoyment at the holiday location.
A total of 10 weeks are being organized, of which 2 weeks are for children who could use some extra guidance.
The Children's Holiday Weeks are organized by a project group. During the week itself, there are volunteers who each look after a small group of children. In addition, there is head leadership at the holiday location who are responsible for the overall running of the activities during the holiday weeks. They support the volunteers and ensure that everything runs smoothly and that the children have a wonderful week. There are two volunteer head leaders per holiday week. We are urgently looking for:
Head of Children's Holiday Weeks, the tasks:
- Together with your colleague in senior management, you ensure the smooth running of the holiday week.
- Together with all other volunteers, you ensure that children have a wonderful and carefree week.
- You are the point of contact for the volunteers in case of questions, special circumstances, or emergencies.
- You are responsible for daily evaluation sessions with the volunteers.
- You are the contact person for the project group and keep them informed of relevant developments.
- You manage the budget for the holiday week.
Skills and qualities
- You recognize extreme behavior and have the tools to deal with it based on work or internship experience.
- You are creative, inventive, and patient, but can also intervene and take action.
- You are social, driven, and know how to inspire and motivate people.
- You have a natural authority and can make decisive decisions when necessary.
- You have a sense of responsibility towards the children, their parents, and the volunteers.
- You can communicate well verbally and in writing.
- You have an affinity with the core values of Humanitas.
- You are willing to complete the training required for this position.
- An application for a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is mandatory.
- You are at least 18 years old.
