Engaging in activities and making friends: this is incredibly important for all young people and young adults. For people with (a form of) autism, this does not always come naturally, because social interaction can be challenging, especially if the other person does not fully understand what it is like. In such cases, it helps to have a safe and trusted place where others understand you and you feel the space to be yourself.
Would you like to help facilitate encounters and friendships between young people and young adults with autism, together with one or two other volunteers? And enjoy a fun evening once or twice a month?
Then you are very welcome at Humanitas!
Tasks and duties
- Devising, planning, and organizing activities together with participants and fellow volunteers.
- Maintain contact with the participants.
- Getting to know and guiding new participants.
- Track income and expenses.
Skills and qualities
- Someone who is good at organizing and maintaining an overview, and at the same time is willing to give others space.
- Someone who is open to people with a form of autism and/or ADHD and wants to learn in that area.
