About Open Hof (Straatpastoraat)
Vision: The Street Pastoral Care aims to be attentive to, and give voice to, the stories of people who, as a result of often multiple turning points in life, have ended up on the streets or outside of society.
Objective: Street Pastoral Care Open Hof focuses on everyone dealing with homelessness and trying to find their way in society. Open Hof wants to be attentive to these people by:
- being present in their lives,
- making space through conversations for what concerns them,
- if desired, fostering connection between the various (support) agencies,
- giving space for meaning and spirituality,
- offering practical, diaconal support where possible.
Furthermore, Open Hof wants to give a voice to the stories of people on the street and strives in doing so to:
- increasing public awareness of homelessness in Groningen,
- combating stigmatization,
- strengthening understanding of and connection with people on the street.
- Helping with the Sunday Celebration for and with visitors, as a celebration assistant.
- Helping staff the Bread Bike, as a cyclist
- Helping expand the City Walks, as a co-guide
- Offering peace, warmth, and attention
- Occasionally, there are projects to which well-trained volunteers can contribute: such as the monastery trip.
