Interesting or nice about this vacancy

Volunteering at PEERS is varied, educational, and social. You become part of a close-knit team of young people and work together on projects, activities, and workshops. You are given plenty of room to implement your own ideas and develop your talents.

In addition, you come into contact with various young people and learn to handle diverse situations and questions. You truly make a contribution by supporting other young people (peer support). You also visit schools and youth organizations, which makes the work dynamic and challenging.

At PEERS, you learn by doing: you are encouraged to take initiative, make mistakes, and learn from them.

Tasks and duties

As a volunteer or intern at PEERS, you will be involved in various tasks, such as:

  • Conducting one-on-one conversations with young people
  • Supporting young people with questions or problems
  • Organizing and carrying out activities and events
  • Giving workshops and information sessions (internal and external, for example at schools)
  • Participate in projects and set up own initiatives
  • Keeping up with social media, email, and phone

In addition, you actively collaborate with other young people within the team and contribute to peer support.

Skills and qualities

For this volunteer work, it is important that you:

  • You are motivated and eager to learn
  • are social and approachable
  • Shows initiative and works proactively
  • can work well together
  • Stands firmly on your own two feet
  • You can handle a dynamic (sometimes chaotic) environment
  • You can structure your work yourself

Additionally, it is important that you are okay with being recognizable on PEERS social media.

Additional information

  • PEERS is open from Tuesday to Friday.
  • You can first take your time getting acquainted and shadowing before you actively get to work.
  • Volunteers often quickly receive responsibility and an important role within the team.
  • PEERS is for young people between the ages of 12 and 27 and operates entirely on the principle of peer support (young people helping young people).
  • There is ample room to set up your own projects, for example for specific target groups such as lonely young people or refugees.
