The Red Cross offers engaging and meaningful volunteer work. We offer a range of relevant courses and training to expand your first aid knowledge. You work on a voluntary basis. We reimburse expenses incurred and ensure that you are insured while performing your duties.
Tasks and duties
Fainting, a concussion, a hemorrhage, or alcohol poisoning. You encounter all kinds of things during an event. Do you spring into action when someone needs immediate help? Then sign up with the Red Cross in Groningen as a volunteer first responder.
As a first responder, you are trained for unexpected situations. Is someone injured? You keep a cool head and take responsibility. We are looking for volunteers for the various Red Cross relief activities throughout the province of Groningen.
During events such as the 4-Mijl, the Night of Winschoten, Delfsail, and King's Day, and in times of emergency, you and your team are ready. You carry out these relief activities together with your colleagues from the Emergency Response Team.
Skills and qualities
Our ideal caregiver:
- Is 18 years or older
- Has a valid, comprehensive Red Cross First Aid certificate or is willing to obtain one
- Regularly volunteers for assistance during events
- Makes time to attend courses and training to keep skills up to date
- Commits to providing assistance during crisis situations
- Takes quick action when something happens and is flexible
- Is stress-resistant and resilient
- Is a good listener, empathetic, and responds to the needs of victims
- Subscribes to the fundamental principles and the code of conduct of the Red Cross
