We offer an interesting, challenging work environment. A well-functioning gallery in the city center of Groningen, supported by an enthusiastic team.
Forma Aktua is a gallery located in the vibrant city center of Groningen. In our building, we offer a platform to both established and emerging artists from the North. Through this, we aim to foster the relationship between artists and art lovers.
The gallery is run by twenty enthusiastic volunteers who together organize ten exhibitions per year.
Tasks and duties
- You maintain a good relationship with the cultural field in the North.
- Together with the fellow board members and other volunteers, you ensure the smooth functioning of the gallery, in terms of innovation, quality, and finances.
- You (co-)responsible for a good working atmosphere within the gallery.
You represent the gallery externally. For example, you welcome guests at openings or other official events and deliver an introduction, an opening speech, or a word of thanks (if necessary).
Skills and qualities
What do we expect from a chairperson?
- You possess good communication skills and an open attitude. Additionally, you are a team player, empathetic, and able to connect and motivate people.
- You have board experience, organizational skills, and good contacts within the cultural field in (Northern) the Netherlands.
- You have an affinity for art.
- You contribute ideas to new developments at the gallery and can translate this into policy.
- The course is determined together with input from the various volunteer working groups of Forma Aktua.
- Finally, you are a positive person; you can be critical but also show appreciation, you are enthusiastic and show commitment.

Forma Aktua aims to promote art and make it accessible to as broad a segment of the population as possible. In addition, the gallery supports artists by offering them the opportunity to exhibit their work.
