Tasks and duties
Do you enjoy talking to people? Then Hamelhuys might be the place for you!
Stichting Hamelhuys is the Center for living with and after cancer in Groningen. (Former) cancer patients and their loved ones can drop by for free without an appointment for a cup of coffee, a chat, a listening ear, and activities that promote well-being.
The center is partly run by (trained) volunteers. Some volunteers are former patients or have experienced the disease firsthand. However, this is not necessary. Activities, workshops, and lectures are held as needed. The main focus is peer support: talking together, having a drink, participating in an activity, or simply being there for each other.
Our hospitality volunteers receive training in communication and conversational skills. Hospitality volunteers work in consultation according to a flexible schedule, welcome guests, serve coffee and tea, assess the guest's needs, and provide information about available options and activities. Additionally, they perform common housekeeping or facility duties. Hospitality volunteers are also asked to occasionally assist with activities in the evening or on weekends, if their personal situation permits.

Additional information
This position can also be filled as a participation job for a minimum of 16 hours per week.
