The Respite House is a warm place where people who are temporarily stuck due to mental health issues or stress can recharge.
At the Respite House, we are there as people for people – simple, warm, and together.
Here, it is about small things that make a big difference: having a cup of coffee, taking a walk together, or lending a hand with the meal.

Tasks and duties
What do you do as a volunteer?
- Having coffee or tea together and chatting.
- Lend a hand with the meals.
- Participate in or assist with activities
- Taking a walk with a guest.
- Help keep the atmosphere warm and relaxed.
What can you expect?
- There are 3 shifts of 4 hours per day:
- 09:00 – 13:00
- 13:00 – 17:00
- 17:00 – 21:00
- The Respite House operates 7 days a week.
- You always work with 2 volunteers per shift.
- You can always consult with a professional colleague, confident that you can handle it together.
- Experience is not required – you will receive thorough training and guidance.
- Good accessibility: ample free parking and good public transport connections.
- Training and peer supervision to share experiences.
- Enjoyable volunteer moments.
Skills and qualities
- Listening ear – you can listen attentively and patiently.
- Empathy and respect – you are attuned to someone's feelings and boundaries.
- Reliability – guests and colleagues can count on you.
- Team player – you always work together with another volunteer and a professional.

Het Respijthuis is bedoeld voor mensen die door mentale klachten of spanningen tijdelijk behoefte hebben aan rust en steun. Gasten vinden er een veilige omgeving die houvast en ruimte biedt: een eigen plek voor enkele dagen tot maximaal twee weken. Het Respijthuis biedt zo de mogelijkheid om even op adem te komen en daarna weer zelf stappen te zetten.
