Stichting Toentje offers a sustainable platform to alleviate poverty through food production, education, innovation, and health promotion.
Toentje is a social enterprise that has been operating in the Oosterparkwijk district of Groningen since 2013. Toentje manages a large vegetable, fruit, and herb garden located between Struisvogelstraat and Oliemuldersweg. The proceeds go to the Stadse Voedselbank. Additionally, Toentje is the driving force behind the neighborhood restaurant Bie de Buuf on Paradijsvogelstraat, where a three-course menu is prepared every Friday evening using fresh, local, seasonal produce. The spaces can also be rented for meetings, parties, etc.
Toentje also produces organic honey (Groningen).
Around 60 volunteers are active within the foundation, ranging from young to older, men and women, with or without jobs, students, etc.
