Tasks and duties

The De Duindoorn Community Restaurant is an initiative of Wijkbedrijf Selwerd. We are looking for participation employees who want to help in the kitchen or at the service counter. These positions also include cleaning duties.

The Wijkrestaurant is located in the recently renovated Dragant student apartment building. An international, social team works at the Wijkrestaurant, putting healthy and surprising items on the menu together under the guidance of a master chef. There is room for new people on this team. At the restaurant, you can learn more about the hospitality industry and working in a kitchen, making your transition to paid employment easier.

Tasks and learning points in the kitchen:

• Learning technical skills: cooking, cutting, weighing, mixing, stirring, whisking.
• Learning to work in the dishwashing area.
• Dealing with hygiene and safety in the kitchen.
• Keeping the work environment clean and tidy.

Skills and qualities

Activities and lessons learned at the dispensing counter:

• Gain skills in serving and welcoming guests.
• Handling hygiene and the first-in-first-out procedure.
• Work according to plan and instruction.
• Dealing with busyness and stress.
• Taking, processing, and issuing orders.
• Keeping your work environment clean and tidy.
• Personal grooming.

For both positions, we require a strong commitment, a willingness to learn, enthusiasm, and a basic knowledge of the Dutch language.
