Interesting or nice about this vacancy
Contribute to the progress of the neighborhood, in the broadest sense.
Tasks and duties
The Oosterhoogebrug / Ulgersmaborg District Council (WOU) is a consultative body for both districts, consisting of a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, and a number of other board members (all residents). They assist the Municipality in working in an area-oriented manner by acting as a dialogue partner and representing the interests of all residents.
The board members perform their duties without remuneration; they are not employed by the Municipality, thereby remaining independent. The Municipality does, however, provide a subsidy to facilitate the neighborhood council's work. It does so to promote the democratic process and thereby ultimately increase citizen satisfaction. A win-win situation is created through constructive collaboration. The Municipality informs the neighborhood council about developments that may have consequences for the neighborhood. The neighborhood council responds to these developments and attempts to steer them in the right direction where necessary.
The neighborhood council is not a conduit or complaints office. If possible, a problem is resolved together with the person reporting it. If necessary, the neighborhood council puts residents in contact with the appropriate municipal officials. Residents can report individual complaints about public spaces (such as loose paving stones) directly to the Municipality, for example via SlimMelden.
A neighborhood council deals with the following topics:
- public space ('green and grey')
- traffic
- social and societal topics (such as youth work, elderly care, events and activities)
- resident participation (encouraging neighborhood residents to think along with us and/or develop initiatives in their own neighborhood)
- Provision of information to and communication with neighborhood residents (via the neighborhood newspaper Brugborgvizier)
Skills and qualities
- Interest in the mentioned topics.
- Participating in the neighborhood council board does not have to take a lot of time and energy; everyone's commitment is appreciated.
- Residing in Oosterhoogebrug or Ulgersmaborg is a requirement.
Additional information
The monthly neighborhood council meetings (on the first Tuesday of the month) are always in the evening.
No meetings are held in July and August.
