About Yatapita Community Organization

Yatapita aims to support children and young people in the Daraja Mbili neighborhood (Arusha, Tanzania) in their personal and social development through sports, education, and community-oriented activities. The organization creates a safe and accessible environment where children develop through play, discover talents, and build self-confidence. By using sports as a connecting tool and offering education in a creative, accessible way, Yatapita contributes to equal opportunities for children aged 3 to 17. Additionally, the organization strengthens the local community by collaborating with volunteers, partners, and families, with an emphasis on mutual learning, involvement, and cultural exchange. Yatapita employs a flexible and inclusive working method, viewing volunteers as full team members with room for initiative. At the same time, the organization focuses on further professionalization to increase its impact and sustainably strengthen its position as an NGO.

Yatapita organizes accessible sports and education activities for children and young people in the Daraja Mbili neighborhood in Arusha, Tanzania. Within the sports program, training sessions are provided to children aged 8 to 17 on rented fields, schoolyards, and other public spaces. The organization also regularly organizes matches against other NGOs and school teams, using sports to strengthen cooperation, social skills, and connection. In the educational field, Yatapita offers small-scale education to children aged 3 to 6, with a focus on playful and creative learning. Additionally, the children receive daily meals. For older children, depending on available resources, after-school activities are organized such as sports, dance, and creative workshops. Volunteers assist with training, education, and practical tasks, and contribute to new initiatives and fundraising. Yatapita also provides guidance and accommodation to international volunteers, thereby stimulating cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
