Interesting or nice about this vacancy

  • You observe and help a young person develop on their path to independence. You function (not as a care provider or foster parent) as a housemate, a listening ear, or a helping hand.
  • You make a difference by giving young people that final push on their path to independence. A lasting relationship can develop; even when the young person has moved out, it is common for landlords and the young person to stay in touch.
  • You contribute to preventing dropout and homelessness among young people.
  • It brings hustle and coziness into the house.
  • Young people are often also willing to reciprocate: a chore around the house or garden, cooking a meal, babysitting, or walking the dog.

Tasks and duties

Do you have room left in your home and heart?

We are looking for people who want to rent out a room to young people between the ages of 18 and 23. Young people who can essentially stand on their own two feet but just need that little extra support: a room with attention!

You decide for yourself how much attention you want to offer and discuss with the young person and the supervisor how this is done. Perhaps you would enjoy it if a young person occasionally joined you for dinner? Would you like to play sports together? Or would you rather help with the paperwork? Some young people are willing to do a favor in return, such as doing chores around the house, walking the dog, or running an errand.

Skills and qualities

  • Anyone with a heart for young people can become a volunteer. It doesn't matter how old you are or how often you are at home. Any living space—with families or single people, in student houses, guesthouses, or shared living arrangements—can become a Room with Attention.
  • You have to enjoy giving some form of attention; you decide how to do that yourself.

Additional information

You receive a monthly rent amount. A condition is that your rent is in any case not higher than the amount recommended by the National Rent Commission ( www.huurcommissie.nl ). The maximum rent is €450 per month (incl.).

For more information on registering as a landlord, you can attend an online information meeting.

Once a young person and landlord have been matched and enter into a contract, the Kamers met Aandacht coordinator remains involved for the entire rental period and available to answer questions and provide guidance to the landlord. The young person's outreach worker remains in contact with the young person for a period of six months.

Getting there

About Kamers met Aandacht

When you have just found your own way, you often still need help from family and friends. But what if that social safety net is missing and you have no familiar place to return to? Stichting Kamers met Aandacht is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help vulnerable young people on their path to independence. That is why we are looking for people who want to rent out a room to young people between the ages of 18 and 23 who are ready to live on their own but still need an intermediate step. A room *with* attention! Our mission: to provide living space for young people who do not yet have an insufficient safety net, money, or practical skills to live completely independently. Our goal: to promote a positive transition out of youth care. And thereby reduce the number of homeless young people. Kamers met Aandacht is a non-profit organization; we are a recognized charity.
