The mission of Noorderzon is to create an arts event with a high-quality program of international performing arts. The organization invests in international talent, local cultural infrastructure, interdisciplinarity, and audience engagement. Everyone is welcome to visit the festival, or to come and work.
Noorderzon Festival of Performing Arts & Society is the somewhat curious combination of a grand summer party and an international arts festival. Local programming stands side-by-side with adventurous international performing arts and social commentary. Cutting-edge theater and music, literature, modern dance, local performances in an intimate setting, post-show discussions, and lectures. The city as a stage, the freely accessible and idyllic Noorderplantsoen as a meeting place, village, and stage all in one. This year from August 20 to 30, 2026!
