Tasks and duties
The Red Cross
The Red Cross helps people in need. We do this close to home – and far away. We do this from the heart and with our sleeves rolled up. And we do this with many volunteers who dedicate themselves with passion. We work worldwide based on our seven fundamental principles: Humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity, and universality. Our relief efforts are constantly evolving.
Are you ready to lend a helping hand?
What are you going to do?
In the event of a disaster or crisis situation in your region, you will be called upon as a relief worker from our Population Care team to care for those affected, for example during the evacuation of a care facility. Led by a team leader, the team stands ready to accommodate people at a reception location. You are the first point of contact for those involved at that moment; you offer practical help and a listening ear. Additionally, providing food, sanitary facilities, and/or a place to sleep may also be part of your duties. How does that work? Watch this YouTube video.
Skills and qualities
- You are in good physical and mental condition
- You have your own transport to get to the location in your region in the event of a call.
- You are social and have strong communication skills, and you know how to get things done.
- A first aid certificate or the willingness to obtain one
- You subscribe to the 7 Fundamentals of the Red Cross
