Monument & Materiaal was established as a foundation in 1983.
The objectives are:
- Acquiring, temporarily storing, and making old building materials available for reuse in the three northern provinces.
- Assisting in the elaboration of the archaeological research in the municipality of Groningen.
- Organizing publications, lectures, and exhibitions in the field of cultural history.
We are looking for a volunteer to help spread our story to the world. You will create engaging content for social media, write copy for our website and newsletters, and assist with some office tasks. Do you also have a driver's license? Then you can occasionally help transport old building materials as well.

Tasks and duties
- Creating posts and content for Facebook, the website, and the newsletters.
- Help promote our mission and materials.
- Manage email and phone (during office hours).
- Scheduling appointments and receiving visitors.
- Occasionally delivering or picking up materials with our electric bus (not mandatory).
Skills and qualities
- Creative writing and experience with word processing and design.
- Knowledge of social media and digital communication.
- Affinity with sustainability and the reuse of authentic old building materials.
- Available at least 1 day per week (2 half-days).

The Monument & Materiaal Foundation (M&M) is a unique foundation that collects old historical building materials and makes them available for renovations and restorations that match the style and period of the building. At the old building materials department, building materials are repaired and sold. The archaeology department assists with archaeological research within the municipality; the archaeological depot is located in the building on Westerbinnensingel.
